My new team

by Shannon Paul on October 13, 2008

It’s been extremely difficult keeping quiet about this, but today was my first day working for the Detroit Red Wings as their New Media and Creative Content Coordinator!

This basically means that I will be helping the team with all things related to social media engagement and online content creation.

This is a brand new position for the Red Wings as well, so I’ll be working with the team’s marketing and public relations departments to bring Hockeytown to the fans like never before; no matter where they happen to live.

The Red Wings aren’t just any team, they’re champions, and they’re one of the most beloved teams of any sport in the world. I am beyond excited about the prospect of bringing fans closer to the action through blogs, social networks, streaming video and events.

The rich history of the Red Wings and the team’s dedication to excellence make it a privilege to be considered part of this organization.

Thanks for letting me share my good news, and tell me, what would you do if you were in my position? How would you use the internet to make Hockeytown more engaging and accessible to fans?

Jamie – Thanks so much for commenting on my blog and for the congratulations!

You’ll be glad to know (I think) that Red Wings World falls under the category of new media, so yes, I am putting together some ideas that we can do to make the RWW experience better for everyone. I hope you understand that I can’t reveal details at this point, but please feel free to keep the feedback coming and tell Nancy I said hello. :)
